The Chi of Fertility with Kimberly Maloney
Kimberly Maloney's experience includes extensive education and training in both Western and Eastern Medicine. Her path began as a critical care nurse, and then with a Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, she became a nurse practitioner specializing in trauma, neurosurgery, neurology, oncology, and bone marrow transplants.
In this interview Kimberly covers an overview of the 5 elements and ultimately how she would treat infertility.
Here are the highlights:
Japanese meridian therapy is a type of acupuncture is a gentler, Yin system compared to Western medicine's more Yang approach
Marma points are the acupuncture points in Ayurveda and historically there seems to be a single origin point of acupuncture that eventually developed into a culturally defined system
The primary focus of acupuncture is to restore Chi flow
Because energetic medicine takes time to occur, the effects of acupuncture are cumulative. This reconditions Chi to flow in a healthy way
Emotions and organs are paired. For example, the liver is the General and digests anger and frustration well. The Heart is the emperor/empress whose spirit is joy. The Liver protects the heart.
Big Shen (Spirit) comes down through the crown and into little Shen (Heart). The heart Shen then disseminates to all other organs.
Infertility can be caused by a variety of issues. Ultimately it is a symptom of the distance one’s chi flow is from their original constitution
Sex hormones are governed predominately by the liver and kidneys
Ovulation is a yang event because body temperature increases
Bone broth helps with weathering overactivity and depletion - People who get cold are blood deficient and in addition to bone broth, red meat and red colored foods restore the blood
Jing is the size of the candle, Chi is the size of the flame and Shen is the light given off by the flame
